Guideliness for Authors

1.  Submitting a manuscript

Manuscripts must be submitted to the editor by e-mail ( JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING ) two months in advance of the issue (for the March issue the deadline for submission is the 23rd of December, for the September issue the deadline for submission is  the 30 of June and for the December issue the deadline for sending the manuscript is the 31st  of August).

Submission of a paper implies that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere and further that it contains work not previously published in English elsewhere.

A manuscript may have an unrestricted number of authors. The corresponding author and the email address must be clearly indicated. Once a manuscript is submitted, the corresponding author/authors must wait the final outcome of the blind peer review process before submitting a new manuscript for evaluation.

2.  Review process

All papers should be prepared and submitted according to the following guidelines.

a.      Regular issue:

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically to JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING , as follows:

- Separate title page (authors names and affiliation, corresponding author and email, manuscript title), as a word or pdf file;

-  Separate main manuscript document (including abstract), as a word or pdf file;

-  Separate supplementary files (including acknowledgements, if any).

The editorial board will make an initial screening of all manuscripts received. Manuscripts that are accepted for review will be sent out anonymously for editorial evaluation.

The review process is anonymous, so please remove all material from the manuscript that identifies you. Do not refer to yourself or any of your published or unpublished work with an identifiable name. If you cite yourself, list your name only as Author and include the publication date of your referenced work (e.g. Author 2002). It is important that you do this in the text and in the references, In the references, use the words “Author 2002” and place it where the word “Author” would appear in alphabetical order, If you have-co-authored publications, refer to them using “author et al. 2002”.

The final decision is made by the editorial board which reserves the right to refuse any manuscript or, in cases when manuscripts are accepted, to add certain corrections or shorten them. Any changes affecting the substance of the text will, of course, only be made in agreement with the author. The review process takes between one and six months.

Obtaining permission for any quoted or reprinted material that requires permission is the responsibility of the author. Submission of a manuscript implies commitment to publish in the journal.

Authors submitting manuscripts to the journal should not simultaneously submit them to another journal, nor should manuscripts have been published elsewhere in substantially similar form or with substantially similar content.

b.   Special (theme) issue:

Once a year a special issue on a special theme will be published. At least six authors will be invited to submit an article for publication. Selected manuscripts will be reviewed by at least one referee on the basis of anonymity. The final decision is made by the editorial board which reserves the right to refuse any manuscript, or, in case manuscripts are accepted, to add certain corrections or shorten them. Any changes affecting the substance of the text will, of course, only be made in agreement with the author.

3.  Text

Manuscripts should be between 5,000 and 9,000 words, including tables, notes and references. All manuscripts must include an abstract of aprox. 200 words. Authors should consult the Chicago Manual of Style, Style B, for citations and references. Authors should not number the pages. Manuscripts must be written in English (US spelling) or French, Italian and Spanish and be complete in all respects, including figures and tables.

4.  Title, subtitles and biography

The title page must list the full title, names, academic or professional affiliations and complete addresses of all authors. In case of multiple authors of one article, all authors should be displayed on a new line, followed by organization details, separated by commas. The name and address of the author to whom correspondence may be sent should be indicated, including an e-mail address, telephone number and fax number.
As a guide, the main title should consist of eight words or less. Notes are not allowed in the title, biography or any of the subtitles. Subtitles must be short and clearly defined.

5.      Abstract and key words

A structured summary of no more than 150-200 words should be included, which encapsulate the principal subjects covered by the paper which will be used for indexing. The summary should be understandable to readers who have not read the rest of the paper. It should not contain any citations of other published work.

With the abstract should also be sent the article's keywords.

6.      Final submission and copyright

Once the manuscript has been accepted for publication, the author must provide a final version incorporating the referees’ comments.
